This is the cook book that has reignited my passion for cooking. As I previously said, I have been spending a fair amount of time watching Triple D(Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives) which is hosted by Guy Fieri and i have noticed that it seemed like we shared very similar pallets, so when I saw this cookbook in a local store, it was a no brainer to pick it up (it didn't hurt that it was on sale too...).
Well, after looking through the 150+ "Off the Hook" recipes, I can definitely say that we do both seem to share a similar pallet that prefers bold flavours and lots of different spice combinations.
There are a ton of great looking recipes in here that I can't wait to try out but one of the things that has become quickly apparent is that this is definitely not your starter cook book. Recipes often call for spices and other ingredients that are not commonly found in a rookie cook's culinary arsenal. However, there are a few different recipes that provide step by step instructions with pictures that are very easy to follow. An easy remedy to this is to plan ahead a little and use it to slowly stock your kitchen.
My favourite parts of this are definitely the anecdotes and story woven into the book and different recipes as they give the book more "flavour" and are almost always good for a laugh or forty. They also do a great job of showing how integral food has been to Guy from an early age.
Also, there are various "Guy'ds" throughout the book that break down different things like different cuts of meat or different vegetables. For the cuts of meat, it also will tell you which recipes that cut of meat is to be used for which is great if you have a cut that you aren't quite sure what to do with.
Overall, I would definitely give this book a 10 out of 10.
P.S. There is also a ton of awesome, sick and, outrageous art throughout the book.
